At last matters grew so uproarious that the grandsire's red kerchief came down from his face with a jerk

Gretel hid her face in her mother's lap and tried not to cry
One of the ill-favored men by the fire had shuffled toward the dresser, and was ordering a mug of beer
Even around the warehouses and docks there was no bustle, no shouting from one to another
The father was "sitting up" at last
He thrust in his hand and took out stocking filled with the long lost treasure
Gretel has won the Silver Skates!
