Фрэнк Эрл Скуновер (анг. Frank Earle Schoonover; 1877-1972) — окончив с отличием Трентонскую модельную школу (Trenton Model School) в 1896 году, подумывал о духовном поприще. Frank Earle Schoonover (1877-1972) graduated with honors from the Trenton Model School in 1896 and considered a career in the clergy. However, a newspaper ad led him to the Drexel Institute, where he was accepted into Howard Pyle's class for illustration students. His classmates included Elizabeth Shippen Green and Thornton Oakley. A devoted follower of his teacher's firm belief that an artist should "live what he depicts" and one of Howard Pyle's most talented students, Frank Schoonover moved to Wilmington in early 1900 and, while continuing to take lessons at his mentor's studio on Franklin Street, illustrated his first books. During his successful and prolific artistic career, he created approximately 2,200 illustrations for 200 books and many popular magazines and periodicals. Frank Earl Schoonover was one of the founders of what is now the Delaware Museum of Art; he established his own art school in 1942 and taught there until he turned 91 in 1968.
