Jules Gotlieb (1897-1978) was an American artist and illustrator; he studied at the Art Students League, the National Academy of Fine Arts, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; He illustrated magazines such as Collier's, McCall's Magazine, Redbook Magazine, American Magazine, Women's Home Companion, Good Housekeeping, Liberty, Cosmopolitan, Motor, and The American Weekly Magazine and lectured at the Art Students League from 1932 to 1934. Jules Gottlieb traveled extensively, collecting reference material for his paintings; his illustrations cover a wide range of genres: educational and informational literature, children's books and fairy tales, biblical and historical literature, detective and adventure stories. Gottlieb's art is aesthetically pleasing; his paintings captivate with the natural continuity of content and the chosen artistic form.
