Густав Тенгрен (Gustaf Adolf Tenggren; 1896-1970) - американский художник-иллюстратор. Родился в Швеции; в одиннадцать лет вынужден был подрабатывать, помогая семье; с 1910 года учился в школе ремёсел (швед. Slöjdföreningens skola), а с 1914 года в Школе изящных искусств Валанда (швед. Konsthögskolan Valand) в городе Гётеборге (швед. Göteborg), в это же время получил первые заказы на выполнение иллюстраций. В 1920 году переехал в Америку, где вскоре стал известным художником, зарабатывая много денег. С 1935 года по 1939 год Густав Тенгрен работал художником в студии Уолта Диснея, создавая экстерьеры и интерьеры для "Белоснежки и семи гномов", "Бэмби", "Гадкого утёнка", " Пиноккио". Gustav Tenggren (Gustaf Adolf Tenggren; 1896-1970) was an American illustrator. Born in Sweden, he was forced to work part-time to help support his family at the age of eleven. From 1910 he studied at the Slöjdföreningens School of Crafts and from 1914 at the Valand School of Fine Arts in Gothenburg, where he received his first commissions for illustrations. In 1920 he moved to America, where he soon became a well-known artist and earned a lot of money. From 1935 to 1939, Gustav Tenggren worked as an artist at Walt Disney Studios, creating exteriors and interiors for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, The Ugly Duckling, and Pinocchio. After leaving the studio, he illustrated a series of children's books under his own brand (The Tenggren Books; Tenggren's). The books in this series contained well-known popular stories and fairy tales. At the same time, Tenggren worked with The Golden Press. It is with pleasure that I present to you, my dear readers, some of this remarkable artist's illustrations for One Thousand and One Nights, published in 1957.
