На мой взгляд, иллюстрация Франца (Франтишека) Богумила Доубека (нем. Franz Bohumil Doubek, чеш. František Bohumil Doubek; 1865-1952) несколько выпадает из общего потока европейских тенденций первой четверти двадцатого века. Художник, как мне кажется, в основном не приемлет модных течений, стремительно захватывающих изобразительное искусство того времени, предпочитая им традиционные композиционные построения и классическую технику исполнения; впрочем, форма представления у него не доминирует над содержанием. Видно, что художнику по крайней мере импонируют философия импрессионизма и в некоторой степени - стилистика ар-нуво: стиль его - свеж и фактурен, персонажи - пластичны. Представленная художником бытийная эстетика - вызывает симпатию зрителя; содержание - философично, основано на тонких психологических построениях и развитой иерархии семантических структур.

In my opinion, Franz (František) Bohumil Doubek's illustration falls somewhat out of the general flow of European trends in the first quarter of the twentieth century. The artist, it seems to me, does not accept most fashion trends in the visual art of that time, preferring traditional compositional constructions and demonstrating a high level of classical technique; however, the form of representation does not dominate over the content. It can be seen that the artist is impressed by the philosophy of impressionism: his style is fresh and textured, the characters are plastic. The existential aesthetics of the presented by artist socio-cultural layer is attractive and pretty; the content is philosophical based on subtle psychological constructions and a well-developed hierarchy of semantic structures go far beyond the genre.
